We hope this page will answer all of your burning questions. Feel free to submit a question in the form at the bottom of the page if you can’t find what you’re looking for below.

Do you have a wedding hashtag?

Yes! It’s #SAMFELLENLOVE

Like, Sam fell in love, but with Ellen.

How do I RSVP?

Visit our RSVP page on Zola. Search for your name. You can RSVP for your entire party. Be sure to let us know if you want a vegetarian meal and tell us where you’ll be staying. This will help us put together a shuttle schedule for Saturday.

There is no need to mail anything to RSVP, we are managing all RSVPs online.

When should I RSVP?

Kindly let us know by Sunday, June 9th.

When and where will the ceremony and reception take place?

The ceremony and reception will be held at the same venue, Glensheen Mansion in east Duluth. Please arrive at 5pm on Saturday, July 20. There will be greeters to direct you to the ceremony from the parking lot. See the Schedule page for all the details.

When and where will the Welcome DINNER take place?

The Welcome Dinner will be held at the Bayfront Festival Park Family Center, near the DECC and the Vista dock. Drop in any time between 6:30-8:30pm on Friday, July 19. See the Schedule page for all the details.

When and where will the SUNSET Sail take place?

The Sunset Sail will depart from the harbor across from the Vista Fleet ticket office at the DECC. Please arrive at 8:45pm on Friday, July 19. See the Schedule page for all the details.

Wait...did the plan change? The invitation says something different.

Indeed it did. We originally had the boat at an earlier time slot. We moved the sail to later in the night (8:45pm) and are now having a welcome dinner earlier in the evening (6:30pm) in a park nearby. Our apologies for the confusion and we appreciate your help with spreading the word!

What should I wear? Is there a dress code?

For the ceremony and reception on Saturday, we’re going for“Minnesota Nice” aka Garden Party attire. Think sundresses, pastels and floral prints, summer suits in lighter hues, even fun hats and fascinators. Note, this will primarily be an outdoor event with grass surface. We do not recommend wearing heels, especially stiletto style.

For the Welcome Dinner and Sunset sail on Friday night, attire is casual. Anything goes, from shorts and flip flops to nautical sundresses and sailor hats. Be comfortable! There will be indoor and outdoor space on the boat. We suggest bringing a light jacket if you'd like to spend time on the outdoor deck.

What is the weather like in Duluth in July?

Duluth weather is notoriously unpredictable, although midsummer tends to be quite temperate. Historically, July 19 is the hottest day of the year, with temperatures ranging from 60°F to 78°F. Rain is possible. Join us in obsessing over the 10 Day weather forecast here.

What will happen right after the ceremony?

After the ceremony, the bride and groom will be taking photos. Glensheen’s event coordinator will direct you into the mansion for a tour and to the terrace for cocktail hour and appetizers.

Will there be food and drinks?

You betcha! We will serve dinner and soft drinks at the Welcome Dinner at Bayfront on Friday. Afterwards, on the Sunset Sail, there will be a fully hosted bar on the boat. On Saturday, appetizers and drinks will be served directly following the ceremony during cocktail hour. A dinner buffet will be served at the reception. And get ready for cake... cakes?

Will there be vegetarian options?

Yes. Please indicate if you need a vegetarian meal when you RSVP to help us know how much to order.

Will transportation be provided to the ceremony and/or reception?

We are arranging a shuttle to pick guests up from Pier B, the Radisson, and the Edgewater. Look out for an email with pickup schedule soon.

For guests staying in rentals or at home, we’ll be providing an UBER code.

You can also drive, but if you do, please drink responsibly and feel free to use the UBER code to get home!

Is there parking available?

On Saturday, there is a large parking lot available at Glensheen at no charge.

On Friday, we suggest parking at the Bayfront Festival Park parking lot. You can also park at the DECC, which has a plentiful lot. If you do, remember to bring cash - parking is $5 at the DECC.

Will there be a wedding party?

We’ve decided not to have bridesmaids or groomsmen at our wedding. We hope all our friends will enjoy a couple extra free hours on Saturday, as well as the freedom to interpret “Minnesota Nice” however they like.

Will there be a rehearsal dinner?

In lieu of a rehearsal dinner, all guests are invited to join us for dinner at the Welcome Dinner at Bayfront on Friday evening. A short rehearsal will take place earlier in the day, and only immediate family will need to attend.

Are kids welcome?

Yes! We are fortunate that many of our friends and family have little ones at this time, and we are delighted to have them celebrate with us. Children are invited to all events: the Welcome Dinner and Sunset Sail on Friday and the ceremony and reception on Saturday.

Please be aware that Friday’s Sunset Sail takes place on a boat, so guests will not be able to leave until we disembark at 11pm.

We’ve included the names of children on the invitations. If we’ve missed any children that you are planning to bring, please let us know ASAP. We are planning to provide an exact number of kid’s meals and high chairs. We’ll follow up with all parents after all RSVPs are in to confirm any special needs.

Can I bring a date?

In order to keep our guest list on track we are only able to accommodate those guests formally invited on your wedding invitation. Please feel free to e-mail us with any questions!

Do you have a hotel block for guests? Where do you recommend I stay?

We have a limited number of rooms available in a block at Pier B in Duluth’s Canal Park neighborhood. We recommend staying in either Canal Park or downtown Duluth. See our where to stay guide for details.

Are there any local places you’d recommend I visit while I’m in town?

Sure! Duluth is a great place for tourists to visit, especially in the summer. Check out our what to do guide for our recommendations.

Where are you registered?

Please know that your presence at our wedding is present enough! However, for friends and family who have been asking for gift ideas, we’ve created an online registry at Zola.
